On Tuesday the 14th of July, our SI-Dusit club had a very informal evening, instead of our usual full committee meeting and dinner, held at Nai Lert Park Hotel. This July many of our club members are away for the summer break, visiting families overseas.
We have not been too dormant though with many club members being involved in fund-raising meetings, including our joint fundraiser being planned together with the SI-Bangkok club, and organising more scholarship presentations to students down in Phuket in August.
So an 'extraordinary evening' was planned for those left behind in Bangkok. We accepted our wonderful May's artist speaker, Elsie Evans' offer of the use of her studio, for our evening.
Everyone had such happy fun, full of delight and surprise. Including a live model, Steve, who was giving us different poses, eliciting giggles and yet intense concentration from the gals trying to sketch at the easels. Our hostess Elsie, encouraged and appreciated our attempts.
The environment was most colorful, and encouraged a gentle energy flow. Alison, who usually looks after the hotel, menu, hostess etc. had organized a wonderful table laden with yummy foods brought by us all.
We all shared a great potluck dinner of Thai and western food delight, enhanced by some delightful homemade Italian pesto, made by one of our Soropti-misters.
A few cocktails and wines completed this special friendly occasion.
We need more meetings like this!
