VISIT TO SOB CHANG VITTAYA SCHOOL
                                                          January 29, 2011

GreetingsSob Chang School in Mae Moh, Lampang has been selected to prepare themselves to be an ‘Outstanding School” as per criteria set up by the Ministry of Education.  EGAT has helped them to build the library but it still did not have enough books.

Visit to LampangSoroptimist International Dusit’s General Meeting in November 2010
approved the motion to provide books worth Baht 50,000 to above school.

We also gave an additional two boxes of  English books from ‘Books for Thailand Foundation’ to give to the school.

Happy ReadersPresident Kanchana Srifunngfung and Pattama visited Sob Chang School on January the 13th,  2011 to present the above books.

They were warmly welcomed by the Teachers and students.     After the handover ceremony, students surrounded the table full of  books and started to read them with much interest.   Pattama and Kanchana said it was such a rewarding trip to see that what SI Dusit had contributed,  created such a happy effect  on the students.  If others had gone with them that day, they also would have been as happy as they were.

The students really appreciated our books.

Silence is Golden

President Kanchana also gave a generous donation to buy sport equipment while K. Pattama gave them some money to go towards the  building of their  new fence.

Our members were later treated to a nice lunch.

                                                  Chiang Mai Visit

After the trip to Lampang, our two members went on to Chiangmai to visit Khun Veerawan Inthanon who we have been supporting from secondary level.  She is quite a good student and she got good grades as confirmed by a professor present at our meeting.  She is a  third year student in the accounting department of the Business Administration Department and she is getting GPA. 3.42.

Her father passed away a long time ago and her mom makes a living nowadays by looking after children in a child center.  During summer Veerawan  also works in order to get some income.    In the beginning she was a little bit tense but when we left, we could see that she was more relaxed and happy.

This is just another story which shows the fruit of our success, all derived from Soroptimists of Dusit members’ hard work in raising scholarship funds.
